독일(서독)출신의 1980년도에 결성된 레게 댄스 팝 그룹
Goombay Dance Band는 70년대 중반 서독의 팝필드에서
솔로로 활동하던 올리버 벤트(Oliver Bendt)가
아내의 고향인 자마이카의 루시아 섬에 정착하게 되어
토속음악인 레게를 접하게 되었고 레게에 적합한 음악성을
가진 흑인 보컬 멤버들을 맞아들여 1980년에
혼성 4인조(여성 2인 남성 2인)보컬 그룹 굼베이 댄스 밴드를
결성하게 되었다. 그리고 다음해인 데뷔곡 "Sun Of Jamaica"의
세계적인 히트와 함께 단번에 인기 그룹으로 부상하였다.

흐르는 곡 Eldorado는 1981년 그들의 데뷔앨범인
'Sun Of Jamaica'에 이은 두 번째 앨범 'Land Of Gold'
앨범에서 커트된 곡으로 세계적으로 엄청난 인기몰이를 하였으며
그기서 탄력을 받아 "Rain"까지 빅 히트를 기록하였다.
