1970년 독일에서 결성된 테크노 팝의 창시자
Kraftwerk (독일어로 "발전소"). 20세기에 등장한
21세기형 밴드의 '미래주의' 음악적 청사진을 제시하여
20세기 후반 팝씬에 일대 혁신을 몰고온 장본인들.
그들이 없으면 new wave도, techno도, hip hop도 없었다.

동시대 독일 아트락의 대부분이 사이키델릭 사운드를
반복하고 있었던 데 비하여 크라프트베르크는, 단조롭게
진행되는 리듬과 귀에 쉽게 들려오는 멜로디를 사용하여
실험성이 강한 전자음만으로 이루어진 도전적인 음악을
발표하여, 국제적으로 센세이셔널한 반응을 불러일으키며
2000년 전 세계적으로 유행했던 테크노 사운드를
70년대에 구현한 그룹이기도 하다.

71년에 Kraftwerk 1 이란 데뷔 앨범을 발표하였고
75년에 발표한 Radio-Activity로 많은 인기를 누렸다.
